PRICE Grant

As many residents have noted, the mobile home parks in Kewanee are in great disrepair. Unfortunately, multiple owners and managers have walked away from the properties, unable to complete the vast infrastructure and mobile home updates that are desperately needed. The City of Kewanee will be applying for a grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development known as the Preservation & Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement (PRICE) Grant. Receiving the grant would allow us to make the necessary infrastructure repairs, remove unoccupied homes, as well as bring in newer and updated homes that are habitable.

Manufactured housing is a critical piece of the nation’s affordable housing stock that provides a home to many. Manufactured housing communities face significant challenges to affordability, resilience, infrastructure, and maintenance.

As part of the application process, the City is seeking comments, questions, and suggestions regarding the current mobile home parks. Please note, these will be included with our application and are not necessarily items we will be able to act on. The grant monies received would only be used in accordance with the grant requirements and cannot be used for other projects such as street repair. To keep things streamlined, we ask that you either email us at publiccomment@cityofkewanee.net or drop off written statements at City Hall.
