Siren Work and Testing

Sheboygan Warning Systems(SWS), the company that is contracted to provide maintenance to the city of Kewanee outdoor warning sirens, will be in Kewanee this Saturday, June 14, to repair a siren located at the corner of Dwight Street and Emmons Avenue.

This siren is one of the original Kewanee sirens and was partially refurbished in the fall of 2024.  The siren is operational, but the volume has decreased due to an issue with the blower motor.

SWS will begin the repair at 9:00 AM Saturday morning and residents may hear sporadic siren operation in the southeast portion of Kewanee during this time.

Residents are reminded that these sirens are intended to notify people who are outside that severe or dangerous weather is imminent.  The sirens are not designed to be heard inside of every home, business or building.  Residents are also reminded to remain vigilant in monitoring weather reports when severe weather is expected and to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families.
