Outdoor Warning Sirens To Be Tested
The City of Kewanee will complete the installation of 2 new sirens this Thursday and Friday, September 5th & 6th. While being installed, residents may hear intermittent siren activations at random times during regular business hours.
On Friday, after installation is complete, technicians will run a full test of all the sirens, at some point between 10:00 and 12:00 that morning. This will be similar to the regular testing done the first Tuesday each month at 10:00 AM.
Residents are reminded that this is just a test and need not worry about seeking cover.
The regular testing at 10:00 AM the first Tuesday of each month will resume on Tuesday, October 1st at 10:00 AM.
After this installation process, the City of Kewanee will be using 4 warning sirens, located at Railroad Ave & See Street, Emmons Ave & Dwight Street, Church & Bronson Streets, and Park & 5th Streets.
The sirens currently located at Tenney Street (Sullivan’s Grocery Store) & 3rd Street (Berrian Park) will be decommissioned as they will become redundant.
