3 miles east of Kewanee, the unique home of Frederick Francis was built in 1890 out of brick, stone and native wood. The house features disappearing doors and windows, an air cooling system, radiant heat deflectors in the fireplace chimney, and running water, all without the benefit of electricity. The park also sports camping sites, a shelterhouse, picnic facilities, playgrounds, and a baseball diamond. Admission for the Woodland Palace is $2 for adults, $1 for children 5 -12, children under 5 are free. Francis Park Campground is now open - Camping with electrical hookup is available for $10 per night or $60 for 7 nights, and tent camping is $7 per night or $42 for 7 nights. Woodland Palace is now giving tours Mon-Fri 8am-3pm and Sat & Sun 9:30am-4pm.
NOTE: SHELTER RESERVATIONS ARE NOT GUARANTEED UNTIL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED AND SHOULD BE MADE THROUGH CITY HALL. ALL CAMPING IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVED.
